Trying something new this weekend. As a blogger I think it’s easy to get wrapped up in only posting the brand new. But there are ancient web videos (videos over 6 months old…) that are well worth watching, or re-watching. Hans Rosling’s first TED talk was in 2006, but this 2007 talk is my favorite.
Toon: Pac-man and Outcomes
Pac-man came up in a conversation I was having a couple of weeks ago. The point that was made, all Pac-man games end the same way, with a dead Pac-man…
Toon: Pizza Bar Chart
This cartoon was inspired by John Gargani’s post from earlier this week: Should the Pie Chart Be Retired.
Toon: AEA365
AEA365 is in the middle of their third bloggers week, asking eval bloggers to write posts about their blogs. Several of these blogs should be familiar if you follow Eval Central. I really like what Susan has done with AEA365. It is geared towards a mostly email audience and does not post much in the […]
PDF Writer
Problem: You want to create the occasional PDF but don’t have access to adobe pro. One Solution: CutePDF Writer I don’t know how many times over the past several years I’ve recommended this little free gem to colleagues. When you install CutePDF it sets itself up as a printer. Then the next time you go […]
Toon: Data-induced coma
I had a boss once that whenever you would start talking about numbers her eyes would instantly gloss over. Often I would simplify the discussion, hitting main points and accepting her trust (or fear of data disguised as trust) that I would make the right decisions. The problem was, sometimes decisions needed to be made […]
Permanent marker on a whiteboard
Ok, now for a random Sunday tip… Several months ago I purchased a little whiteboard that I could carry around. Well one day I apparently used permanent marker because it would not erase. “Oh great,” I thought, “it’s ruined.” Thankfully though, with the help Google, I was able to find a very simple fix using […]
Video: Critical thinking and the basics of logic
I spotted these six super short videos on critical thinking via Brainpickings. Since evaluators are notorious for their logic I thought I would post them on my site as well. I enjoyed them, I hope you do too!
Toon: Work life balance
OK, this one is for Kenny. Anyone else have a challenge? It doesn’t have to be for a presentation (i.e. blog, web page, etc.). This offer won’t last for long. Unless of course I really enjoy it and it becomes a thing, which is very possible.
Toon: Logic Model Tip Long Term Outcomes
One logic model cartoon, as requested by Sam Grant in yesterday’s comments.
I will cartoon your Power Point
I’m going to make you an offer. As you may have guessed, I’ve been enjoying cartooning lately. But I would enjoy it even more if I knew my cartoons were taking flight elsewhere. So here’s my offer. Do you have a power point that needs a cartoon? And really what presentation doesn’t. Just give me […]
