Adapt Your Evaluation Reports and Resources for the Web
Most evaluation reports and resources are written for print but need to work on the web. Like adapting a book for film, this requires rethinking structure and presentation for a different medium.
PDF: Still Unfit for Human Consumption, 20 Years Later.
Jakob Nielsen and Anna Kaley, August, 2020
Summary: Research spanning 20 years proves PDFs are problematic for online reading. Yet they’re still prevalent and users continue to get lost in them. They’re unpleasant to read and navigate and remain unfit for digital-content display.
Web Reports, Resource Sites, and Storytelling Data Dashboards for Evaluation Teams
I adapt evaluation, data, resources, and research for the web using WordPress:
Web-Based Reports: Transform final evaluation reports, strategic plans, and research summaries into accessible web experiences with clear navigation, visual storytelling, and mobile-friendly design.
Resource Sites: Create ongoing hubs for evaluation resources, methodologies, tools, and communities of practice that teams can update and grow over time.
Strategic Frameworks: Build interactive sites that explain your theory of change, program logic, or evaluation framework with visual clarity and progressive disclosure.
Data Dashboards Design interactive data visualizations and dashboards using WordPress and Flourish that let stakeholders explore your evaluation data, track indicators over time, and understand complex findings at a glance.
Why Reports Need Adaptation for the Web
Your team spent months on that evaluation. It cost $250K. And now it sits in a 100-page PDF written at an 18th grade level that nobody opens.
The reality:
- Funders can’t find the information they need
- Stakeholders don’t read past page 3
- Partners can’t share specific findings
- Communities can’t access it on mobile
- Your work deserves better
I transform:
- Grade 18 writing to Grade 10-12 (readable but not dumbed down)
- 100-page PDFs to Scannable web sections
- Static documents to Interactive frameworks
- One-size-fits-all to Multiple entry points for different audiences
The Adaptation Process
Every project follows four phases:
- Copywriting & Storytelling – Restructure and simplify content for web reading
- Illustration & Data Visualization – Create visuals, graphs, charts, and maps
- Graphic Design & Web Development – Build in WordPress with accessible design
- Launch & Training – Train your team and deliver all assets
How We Work Together
- You tell me about your project: Fill out the contact form below with details about your report/resource/challenge, timeline, and goals.
- I review and respond: Within 24 hours, I’ll let you know if it’s a good fit and what questions I have.
- I send a proposal: Clear scope, timeline, deliverables, and pricing for your specific project.
- We kick off: Once you approve, we’ll have a kickoff call to align on approach and get started.
- You get your adapted report or resource: Typically 4-8 weeks depending on complexity. I can handle everything: content adaptation, design, WordPress setup, and launch. I can even host it on my site (reportpress.net). Or we can collaborate throughout, and I’ll work directly with your team web or comms team to put it on your site.
Why Evaluation Teams Work With Me
I understand evaluation: I know what a theory of change is. I know how evaluators think. I speak your language. I’ve run FreshSpectrum for 15 years, writing about evaluation for 155K+ visitors from 217 countries.
I prioritize accessibility: Not just ADA compliance (though that too). I mean actually readable—grade 10-12 instead of grade 18, visual instead of text-heavy, scannable instead of dense.
I’m the right size: Big agencies charge $50K-100K+ and take 6 months. I’m efficient, responsive, and priced for evaluation budgets. You work directly with me, not a junior team.
I’ve done this before: CDC, Blue Cross, Kellogg Foundation, OECD, Habitat for Humanity, Center for Evaluation Innovation, and evaluation agencies across the US and internationally.
I understand evaluation data: I know how to visualize outcomes, indicators, and trends in ways that make sense to evaluators—not just impressive charts. I use Flourish and WordPress to create storytelling dashboards that stakeholders can actually explore and understand.

What It Costs
Projects typically range from $12K to $35K depending on complexity and scope.
Simple Report or Resource Transformation (Starting at $12K): A single evaluation report (15-25 pages), straightforward content structure, standard WordPress setup. 3-4 week timeline.
Interactive Strategic Plan, Dashboard, or Framework ($20 – 28K): Complex multi-section reports with interactive elements, custom data visualizations using Flourish, theory of change frameworks, or ongoing data dashboards. 6-8 week timeline.
Comprehensive Project ($30K+): Multiple related reports, ongoing resource sites, extensive custom development, communities of practice. 10-12 week timeline.
Every project is all-inclusive but different teams have different needs. Typical project include content transformation (rewriting for web), WordPress design and development, mobile optimization, and training on how to update your site.
Client Testimonials
We worked with Chris to turn a static report into an interactive website that was branded for the client, visually compelling, and centered user-experience. Rather than scroll through a lengthy report, users can easily navigate to what’s most important to them. I highly recommend working with Chris to transform data products into something useful and engaging. Plus, Chris is awesome to work with!
Nina Sabarre, Founder + CEO of Intention 2 Impact
Chris created engaging materials and templates we can continue to update moving forward. We feel much better equipped to create engaging data products after having worked with Chris and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on what we have released so far.
Kathleen Chaballa, Data & Analytics Manager at Habitat for Humanity International
We are continually grateful to work with you!
